The Aeiavision Song Contest (often simply called Aeiavision) is a song competition held yearly in Aeia. Each participating country sends one artist to perform a song, and then all countries decide on the winner of the contest based on viewer and jury voting.

History

After the dismantling of the Aeian Socialist Union in 1981, which resulted in the independence of several former communist countries, there still existed a large divide between the two blocks of the Cold War that was based on both political and cultural differences. This divide disrupted efforts towards reconciliation between west and east Asura. In 1982, the Aeian Visionary Committee (AVC) suggested the creation of an event that would promote unity and cultural exchange between the former Comintern members and the rest of Aeia. The idea was championed by Vittore Melún, who was an employee at an Aquidish-speaking Midrasian television channel.

Several types of events were drafted among the participating countries. During an AVC meeting at Hegoalde in 1982, it was decided that the event would be a contest based on music. A group of committee members had been inspired by a number of music festivals that have been regularly held in Asuran countries since the 1960s. It was agreed that for the event, each country could send one song that would be voted on by residents of participating countries. Broadcasting unions in Aeia, specifically those of former ASU countries, were invited to broadcast the event, and in 1983 the first contest was greenlit to occur the subsequent year. The first Aeiavision Song Contest took place in August 1984 as a televised and radio-transmitted broadcast. Since the inaugural event, Aeiavision has been held in May every year due to positive reception from viewers, and countries from the entirety of Aeia have participated. In 1987, the Aeiavision sector of the AVC re-branded itself as the Aeiavision Union.
