Nazali, offically the Islamic Republic of the Nazali (Arabic: الجمهورية الإسلامية نزلي), is a sovereign presidential republic on the southern peninsula of the continent of Ashizwe in Pardes. It is bordered by the United Republic of Kimbazwe, the Republic of Ovidalia, and the Democratic Republic of Huamba to the west, the Republic of Terinyi, Numibia, and the State of Husseinarti to the east, and finally the Confederated Free Cities and Departments of the Catalarguense Commonwealth to the south. It is the fourth largest nation in Ashizwe. The nation is dominated primarily by mountains and thick jungle. It is divided in to four main ethnic groups, Komanda being the largest. It's largest religion is Sunni Islam.

Nazali has been home to a number of ethnic groups and as a result of this, historic civilizations. It is the second-largest country in the South Ashizwean region in terms of area and the largest in population. It maintains a policy of non-alignment in international politics, particularly defense agreements. It is a presidential Islamic federal republic, with a unitary national legislature. It's national law is a mix of Civil Law and Islamic Law (Sharia).

In contemporary history, it suffers from numerous internal issues, ranging from civil war to famine and overpopulation. Ethnic cleansing and a blind eye to slavery are prominent issues in the country, condemned by international human rights organizations.

Geography

North Nazalite hills

Nazali is a mountainous country with a large amount of plains, jungle, forest, and a small coastline. It is located in south Ashizwe. The countries highest point is at Mount Mastauq at 7,800 meters above sea level. It has land borders with numerous countries in the area, making a notable transport hub.

The geographical terrain is most commonly rolling savannah hills. There are large tracts of jungle, especially in the southern half of the nation. There is a small section of sand and rock desert in the east known as Leshawahr Balwedh. Rainfall increases as one moves south, generally. The most rainy season in Nazali is July to September, which, for many areas, it rains 95% of all days. Historically, many Nazalites were nomadic, however, in modern times, most Nazalites rely on heavy rainfall to feed crops. A large number of small to moderate sized rivers make Nazali excellent for cash-crop growth. Coffee, rubber, opium, cannabis, coco, cocoa, oranges, and sugarcane are major crops. Sunshine hours are very high in the nation, especially the north, where it can sometimes be over 4,000 hours a year.

Underground, Nazali has a large range of natural resources. Chromite, copper, silver, gold, lead, zinc, and a plethora of precious gems can be easily mined. A small economy of hunting is also present, primarily for subsistence. Deforestation is a problem with growing plantations, and even more so for growing slash-and-burn practices.

Conservation efforts are not a major priority of the Nazalite Government.

Government

National Congress of the Nazali
The Islamic Republic of the Nazali is a nominally democratic (though often considered a failed state) federal republic with Islam serving as the national religion and an important part of national politics.

The foundations of the government are set in the national constitution, written after the Great Nazalite Islamic Revolution. As with many nations, it is divided in to three branches, though corruption has left the divisions between them unclear. They are as follows: Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial. The Executive branch is led by the President and Vice President. The President is elected by the National Congress, alongside the Vice President. The only President in the history of the modern Nazalite government has been Chinua Malangu, allegedly holding on to power through extortion, fraud, bribery, and the use of force. He is responsible to both run the federal government of the nation, as well as act as it's chief representative to others.

The National Congress is the primary body of the legislature. It is elected by the 23 provinces in the nation. Much like President Chinua Malangu, many congressmen are alleged to hold office illegitimately. The national congress may submit and vote on various bills to become law and define the nation's policies, enact laws, and ratifying international agreements. The military and warlords play a major role in the politics of the nation's government, with many congressmen being former army officers.

Law is enforced by the judiciary High Shariat and Provincial courts of the Nazali. The National Law Code of the Islamic Republic of the Nazali is released every year and includes all offenses, penalties, etc. information regarding criminal justice in the nation. This includes a plethora of laws specifically as a result of Sharia Law being prevalent in the nation.

In modern times, the Nazali has become a single-party state, led by the Islamic Unity Party and it's closely associated Vanguard Movement for United Jihad and Islam in Pardes. The seat of both the IUP and the Nazalite Government is in the capital, Niangala.

Military

The Nazalite People's Islamic Armed Forces is the national military of the Nazali. It composed of four branches. The Army, Navy, Air Guard, and Border Guard. All of these branches total to roughly 450,000 troops. They are under the official guide of the National Congress, and is tasked with guarding the Republic against all threats. It is often a major player in the internal politics of the nation. Both historically and currently, military officers use their influence gained in service to become government officials, concurrent or after serving. Occasionally, leaders have been known to skirmish with each other and local warlords for control of resources. Generally, however, the NPIAF has united properly to fight hostile militias and insurrections, such as the Socialism and Equality Movement's attempted coup in 1999.

While not official, the Nazalite government often turns a blind eye or even hires local militias and paramilitary organizations to aid in governance and defense against hostile paramilitaries. In some cases, notably in the aforementioned Vanguard Movement for United Jihad and Islam in Pardes (also known as Hadael al-Atllaeh), which receives a large amount of funding from selling illegal narcotics over Pardes, which the Nazalite governments turns a blind eye to, in exchange for a mutual blind eye to the illegal farming and widespread corruption and vice in the nation.
